The Trip Home

My brother, Mark, went with me to look at the boat several months ago. He took a few measurements came back and over the last few months built the trailer we hauled it home on. He was not sure how it would fit, but when we put it on there, it fit perfectly.

Mark, Bennie Chastain and Keith and Howard Bagley went to help me bring it home. We used Keith's bass boat to tow it around to the boat ramp. Howard and I piloted the houseboat while Mark and Bennie waited at the trailer. The only problem we had towing it to the trailer was we got a rope tangled up in the prop on Keith’s boat. We drifted across the lake (it was pretty windy) but when we got on the other side, Keith was able to stand in knee deep, very cold water and untangle the rope. Once we got it to the trailer, we were lucky enough that it went on perfectly the first attempt. We pulled it out of the water, raised the outdrives, tied it down and headed home.

Mark and Bennie were in the truck pulling the trailer, Keith and Howard were the rear escort and I was the front escort. We came all of the way home (about 250 miles) with no major problems. A wheel bearing went out on the right side rear axel of the trailer when we were about 25 miles from home. It was getting dark anyway so we parked it in a parking lot and the next day Mark, Howard and I went back and brought it the rest of the way home.
